Been playing around with this song for awhile now… And since I haven’t posted in over half a year, I thought it might be time to share.

(As usual, the recording software has given my guitar an odd texture—but you get the gist. Feedback welcome!)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DACE FACE! <3

I wrote you a song today in class instead of learning about the olfactory system…turns out class is an awesome time to daydream and be nostalgic! Plus I found this fabulous photo—look how young we were! ha

ANYWAY I’m posting this two weeks early because I want to be the first to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY—hopefully this is a totally out of left field surprise. Also, with exams coming up I’ll probably be in the library for another two months so I wanted to write while I could!

(always less than three)

Landslide by Stevie Nicks

This is possibly one of my favorite songs and has been on my mind especially lately. Something about this time of year where you can hardly breathe because of the cold wind and it gets dark at 5 in the afternoon makes me feel the emotion of this even more than usual. I definitely dont do it justice but it’s too heartbreakingly beautiful of a song not to try….

DONE WITH GROSS ANATOMY! (and clearly going crazy w/lack of sleep.)

…no seriously. Would I have written this song if I wasnt sleep deprived and/or inebriated? But oh well! With this post, I expose my nerdy/lame ridiculousness to the world and I dont care because WE’RE DONE WITH MOD 1! Now for some sleep. And maybe a shower.

Comme des Enfants—Coeur de Pirate

I’ve been learning alot of sad songs lately but yesterday I re-kindled my love for Coeur de Pirate instead of studying micro and decided that I’d had enough of gloomy break up songs (at least for now). I guess to be fair this is not quite a happy song, per se, but it is lovely (especially in it’s official version) AND I got some amazing breath control practice in there (I don’t know how she sings this without breathing…ha)

It’s been a rough month but I finally sat down and learned a song (or at least half of one…)

Biochemistry? Check. Physiology? Check. Anatomy (Part 1)? Check. Getting my life back in order? Still on the to-do list.

I was clearing away notes from our last round of exams and found this ridiculous sheet of mnemonics that I had written up to study for anatomy and I realized that none of them actually makes that much sense. I also realized that I didnt really remember any of them (and if I cant remember them, what good are they to me? ha) So I put them to music.

….although I’m not sure that this really helps me remember what they stand for, at least I’ll never forget them!

i was reminded recently that i haven’t posted anything in about two weeks… this shouldnt surprise the three people out there who read this (regularly, i’m sure) but i do feel badly that i’ve let things slide a tad.

….the thing is, i havent actually learned a new song in over a month. DEPRESSING. so i was going to just upload a random old recording of say yes by elliott smith but then i thought, “no! i am going to learn a new song!” so i looked up the lyrics to one of my favorite songs by the national and voila! for your listening pleasure a sketchy, pretty much no actual guitar being played, rendition of slow show. i’ m sure that if i spent more than ten minutes on it, i could come up with something a bit more dynamic, but in the game of life, i am experiencing a dearth of free time. (pathetic, i know.)

it has been a ridiculously long week….exams, classes, mistakes and misunderstandings here and there, and a smattering of insomnia…BUT i passed everything (phew!) and i’m definitely excited for a little R&R this weekend.

most of the week i had Jesus etc by Wilco stuck in my head—and around the time that i was ready to explode from all the histo factoids crammed into my brain, i realized that messing around with it on my guitar was a pretty effective way to chill out for a bit without thinking too much…
