hey dace face, remember this pig? i’m not sure it even worked when we first started going to mr. poole’s…back when that bbq was served out of an old trailer with a screen door that would always slam no matter how hard you tried to keep it quiet? and mr. poole’s pig hill of fame was still small enough you could run up it and stare out over the highway from way up top, and big walls of kudzu still looked like monsters, and we would spend nights listening to the rain hitting the tin roof and washing over the riverbanks down below… ok so clearly i’m getting sappy in my old age, but i was just thinking about the cabin and driving up 575 past the piggly wiggly (or was it a winn dixie?) before things got all built up and the super-walmart moved in and how you and i used to hate going up there sometimes but how no matter how bad your allergies got or how many ticks and bugs ate on us we always managed to have a little fun going crazy up there in the woods. most of all, i was thinking about how good mr poole’s bbq tasted before i realized what slaughtering a hog really meant… anyway, i made you a little mix of songs that remind me of home and how fall smells this time of year up in ellijay when the apples are almost ready to be picked. you probably have all these songs—and they range from pretty damn bluegrass country to over produced pop-y twang—but i hope it brings you a little flavor of home! always less than three…
