is it possible…

to have a cold in africa?

yes, my friends, it is quite possible to be miserable with a runny nose and sore throat, fever and other assorted symptoms of your average cold while simultaneously burning up in he hot african sun. for this reason, ive decided to forever ban the term “cold” (as it designates the disease, not the temperature) from my vocabulary. it just is absurd to say youre stuck in bed with a cold when its 96° plus outside. rhinovirus sounds far more accurate—and it has the appropriate african overtones that apply in this circumstance.

anyway, alot of the volunteers (including, obviously, me) have somehow caught this pesky little virus somewhere along the way and have been sniffling and coughing our way through work all day. hopefully it passes soon—i really hate being sick.

otherwise, nothing is really new. will start teaching english on thurs and fri afternoons this week which should be interesting and am learning a ton of new stuff on the guitar—its amazing how much ive improved with so much free time on my hands. beyond that, just waiting on a few more med schools to let me know of their decisions—trying to do research on med programs in cyber cafes is proving to be difficult—but im super excited to have the current options that face me and hopefully ill have some other places to think about as well by the end of the week. fingers crossed!
