Home!

I woke up this morning and realized that I completely forgot to update this blog to let people know that I made it home in one piece last Thursday! I’m so sorry—I’ve been battling jet lag and some ring-worm and some general stomach discontent and time has just flown by since I made it back. I may have left Africa but its taken a few days for Africa to leave me! So strange that it was so easy to integrate moving over but much more difficult returning stateside…

Anyway I am safe and happy to be back, although I miss Senegal terribly. Nama nala ma senegal—hopefully I will be back there soon with a more developed skill set!

I will continue updating this blog most likely with random things here and there, but most likely the subject matter will shift back to my boring life back here in the States and the whole first-year med school experience that I’ll be jumping into back up at Penn this fall…However, if you’d like to hear more about Senegal, St. Louis or Espoirs de Demain, drop me a line—I would love to talk your ear off! And, if you’d like some reading about the life of the talibe, here is a link to “Off the Backs of the Children” a report written by the Human Rights Watch and released a month or so ago. The report offers a pretty interesting background to the talibe situation and provides first hand accounts of talibe life on the streets and in the daara.
