Ok, I have to preface this clip by saying that I love Alicia Keys. Ever since I heard “Fallin” back in the day, I’ve been a huge fan. The thing is, though, I don’t often listen to her—usually I’m pulled away by whatever random new album just came out and her music is almost never on the little mixes I make for friends. BUT tonight, while jumping rope, “How come you don’t call me” came on and I literally put it on repeat for a good fifteen minutes (and I can tell you that belting out this song at haute voix while jumping rope is probably the best ab work out I’ve ever gotten in my life.) So anyway, I couldn’t get the song out of my head and so busted this little number out as soon as I got home from the gym. It’s probably not the right chords (definitely stumble to find a F# in there at one point) and I’m definitely hoarse from trying to hit her high notes earlier, but thought I’d share anyway since, with this new work schedule, this is pretty much the only song I’ve tried recently…apart from “Midnight Train to Georgia” but that is a whole other ball game and I’m definitely not comfortable sharing that one without the Pips backing me up… I can fool around with Alicia, but I sure as shooting ain’t no Gladys. haha.
